Printmaking

Class Full, Waitlist Applies

The aim of the printmaking workshop will be to experiment with the medium of Tetra-Pack etching. Some elements of monotype printmaking will be explored and practiced.

The workshop offers both beginner and experienced printmakers access to printmaking tools and equipment, including a press, and the opportunity to explore the potential of this type of printing. It is a relatively new and versatile print technique that is perfect for experimentation.

Beginners to printmaking will gain competence in essential skills, enabling further development in the future. Those experienced with printmaking will be able to experiment and combine techniques such as multiplate printing.

We will use both water and oil-based inks and clean up with vegetable oil. This is a  non- toxic process.

It is expected that participants will produce a collection of images of enduring quality.

Additional information and materials

There will be a printing press at the course (set at one pressure; please do not bring plates of varying thickness to the workshop, unless you want to hand/monotype on those without the use of a press).

Please bring photocopies of drawings/any images, no larger than A5 to work with. Please bring aprons, gloves, brushes and drawing materials or any other printmaking material, (like your own tools, paints, watercolour, inks brushes printing paper, etc. (no watercolour paper please)) if you wish.

The extra material cost will be $20 p.p. to cover the cost of ink, proofing paper etc. Tiepolo Printmaking paper will be available for purchase from the tutor.
